Fate and Friendship
I have been so busy running a new storefront in Downtown Mebane, growing my business, blending my new family and writing for 8 Women Dream that I haven’t had the chance to update this blog as often as I’d like. Instead of forcing myself to write on a timetable, I’ve been waiting for topics to inspire me.
Paula has become one of my dear friends. She was my first new friend when I moved here. She’d found me on Facebook when I announced the move. Then when I lamented the potholes of online dating she messaged me sage and hilarious advice. We met for dinner and the laughter never stopped.
She’s the rare soul who has a healthy sense of humor but a heart that loves so hard you can’t help but feel comforted to be around her. The inside-out beauty that shows it self in a myriad of ways.
I’ve wanted to photograph her since I met her, so when she booked her pinup shoot I squealed inside.
Her photo shoot was nothing short of therapeutic magic. For ME too. Kim rocked out Paula’s hair and makeup. We chose outfits. Paula rocked the outfits. We laughed. The three of us shared stories of love and loss and inappropriate jokes that were entirely appropriate for the day.
There was a moment where I marveled that the three of us were in this time and place doing what women have done for ages but do less often with social media. Sharing our scars, celebrating our blessings.
We've been planning this shoot for a long time. Her energy on set was incredible. Even though we had a quite a few distractions. ;) She's stunning inside and out and smart as a whip. Can't wait to share the rest of her incredible pinup art.
I'm so glad we did this! Seriously, the way you photograph women makes the rest of us second-guess being straight. ;)
Thank you so much for bringing me out of my stay-at-home mommy hood for a day showcasing my ultra-glam sexy alter-ego.
After every photo shoot each lucky #pinuptherapy girl signs a card for our Hall of Fame. (It used to be just a wall!) These cards keep me grounded and make me feel blessed to have the job I have. Xo, Lauren!
